RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra 2011-2012 Season
2011 Mentoring Scheme for Advanced Young Musicians
One of the orchestra's new developments in 2010-2O11 was the Mentoring Scheme for Advanced Young Musicians, designed to provide third-level instrumental students with the opportunity to audition, rehearse and perform with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and with conductors and soloists of international stature.
In November 2010, following full orchestral auditions, nine of Ireland's leading young instrumental students, ranging in age from 20 to 23 and from counties Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny and Donegal, joined the orchestra under Principal Conductor Alan Buribayev to perform Respighi's Fountains of Rome and Bartók's mighty Concerto for Orchestra. It was a fantastic experience for everyone: students, orchestral musicians and for Alan Buribayev.
The scheme continues in the 2011-2012 season.
On Friday 4 November 2011, we hope that you will join us to welcome the 2011 group. Under Maestro Bamert, they will perform Khachaturian's Violin Concerto in D minor and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74 'Pathétique'.
