Fiona Murphy

Fiona Murphy mezzo soprano

Fiona Murphy, from Dublin, is a graduate of University College Dublin with a BA in English and Music, and holds a Master of Music in Opera from the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia. She was a member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. In Ireland Fiona studied voice with Dr. Veronica Dunne.

Fiona has performed with Opera Ireland, Opera Theatre Company, Wexford Festival Opera, Co-Opera, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Wolf Trap Opera Company, and Houston Grand Opera, and English National Opera. She was a finalist in the prestigious Hans Gabor International Belvedere Singing Competition, Vienna, and Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition. She was the winner of the National Council Metropolitan Opera Mid Atlantic Region Competition in 2004, and holds the mezzo soprano medal from the Feis Ceoil, Dublin. She has appeared on several occasions at the National Concert Hall Dublin, and has performed in oratorio including Hansel's Messiah, Mozart's Requiem and Beethoven's Mass in C minor. She has been a featured artist on RTÉ radio Theatre Nights, Anna Livia radio Dublin, and has appeared on RTE's The Den and The Late Late Show.
