Signature Series: Alfie Boe with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra
Alfie Boe
RTÉ Concert Orchestra
David Brophy conductor
The British star tenor with two chart-topping classical albums is the only artist to be nominated in two categories in the Classical Brit awards for 2008 - Male of the Year and Album of the Year. Alfie Boe is also known for his appearances with Michael Parkinson, who hailed him as a 'rising young talent in the world of classical music'. Approached by Baz Luhrmann to play one of the leads in his production of Puccini's La bohème, his performance on Broadway won him a Tony Award.
He joins the RTÉ Concert Orchestra to perform famous operatic arias including Puccini's E lucevan le stelle and Bizet's La fleur que tu m'avais jetée as well as popular Neapolitan songs, many written by emigrants in remembrance of their homeland, close to his heart because of the passion they express.
