We have a night of John Barry's great film music (10 February) and we mark Valentine's Day with Gary Williams in a Nat 'King' Cole night (14 February). Stravinsky in Focus is an eclectic celebration of a figure who changed the course of 20th-century music (RTÉ CO concert 6 February).
His music famously sparked a riot in Paris. He studied with Rimsky-Korsakov, was friends with Proust, Debussy and Gide, collaborated with Picasso and lived for a time with Coco Chanel. He kept Sinatra and Mia Farrow waiting for his autograph in a restaurant, and was invited to the White House by JFK. Stravinsky is one of the most original and influential creative figures of the 20th century and RTÉ is celebrating him on 5 and 6 February at the NCH.
