. A series of song cycles showcasing the finest Irish and international singers, among them Orla Boylan in Strauss' Four Last Songs, Patricia Bardon in Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder and Christianne Stotijn in Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été. And there's also Canteloube, Britten, Mahler and Berg...

. Favourites including Saint-Saëns' 'Organ Symphony', Mahler's 5th Symphony, Sibelius' Finlandia coupled with the Grieg Piano Concerto, and Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto and Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, again on the same programme

. The European première of André Previn's Owls - Previn's recent composition for the Boston Symphony Orchestra - and the Irish première of Last Round by the extraordinary Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov.

. An all-Haydn programme, including the 'Nelson' Mass, to close the anniversary celebrations

. A rare performance of the 'secular oratorio' Das Paradies und die Peri, after Irish poet Thomas Moore, to mark the Schumann anniversary

. Evenings to mark Samuel Barber's anniversary featuring performances of his Violin Concerto, his Piano Concerto and Knoxville: Summer of 1915, singing of that lazy summer of 1915, the swing on the back-porch, the streetcar rattling by.
