RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra 2010-2011 Season and beyond
The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra's 2010-2011 Season is the busiest to date with over 70 events, including more than 40 performances, over the nine months of the season.
The main concert season of 30 concerts (two on New Year's Day), includes 11 themed strands, with many new events now in place linked to the main programmes.
PRICE AND VALUE
As with all RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra events, the focus on value, discounts and choice remains, with new and additional means of saving money and getting better value. CHOICE AND ACCESS
The season has been designed to offer audiences a range of choices and access points.
It introduces the new artistic team, and exciting musical personalities, of Alan Buribayev, Principal Conductor, Hannu Lintu, Principal Guest Conductor and Finghin Collins, Associate Artist, each of whom can be heard in their very own individual concert strands across the season.
Key strands include Rachmaninov Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra, Mozart Piano Concerti with Finghin Collins and Brahms Piano Concerti uniquely directed from the keyboard by Barry Douglas; programmes related to place in Musical Journeys and The French Connection; and styles of performance in The Soloist Directs. World premières, commissioned by RTÉ, are Jump Up! Fanfare of Welcome for Alan Buribayev and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra by Elaine Agnew, and works by Andrew Hamilton and Linda Buckley with Irish premières being Echoes of Eternity by Jan Sandström and The Albéniz Concerto by Stephen Goss.
