Rónán Scarlett, percussion
This is Rónán's first year on the Mentoring Scheme
Rónán in his own words...
I am lucky to have been brought up in a musical family and have
been a percussionist since an early age. I am currently in the first year of a four-year honours B.A. in Music Performance at the Royal Irish Academy of Music where I am studying with Richard O'Donnell.
I have gained a great deal of experience performing with various Orchestras, not only in Ireland but in Italy, France, United Arab Emirates and the United States, and I have attended masterclasses with Evelyn Glennie, Noel Eccles, Morris
Lang and Adam Nussbaum. I have previously performed on the stage of the National Concert Hall with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, Hibernian Orchestra and other Orchestras, and in April I was selected to take part in the RTÉ 'Soundings' project led by animateur Paul Rissmann and members of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra.
I am a member of the RIAM Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, and I am delighted to be given the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the RTÉ NSO under conductor Matthias Bamert.
