Deirdre Reddy, violin
This is Deirdre's second year on the Mentoring Scheme
Deirdre in her own words...
I studied violin and piano from the age of four in the Leeson Park School of Music, Dublin, and in 2001 began studying with Brian McNamara at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama.
I have won prizes at the Feis Ceoil and also the Ita Beausang Cup in DIT as well as being a runner up in the 2006 Top Security Music Competition. Last year, I performed as a soloist with the DIT Symphony Orchestra under conductor David Brophy and in 2010 and 2011 I was chosen to represent DIT in the Irish Freemasons Young Musician of the Year competition.
I have just completed my final year of the DIT B.Mus. in Performance and received a first class honour which has been one of this year's highlights for me. Last year I took part in the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra Mentoring Scheme for Advanced Young Musicians under Principal Conductor Alan Buribayev and am delighted to be taking part again.
