Jerome de Bromhead
Jerome de Bromhead (b. 1945)
Jerome de Bromhead was born in Waterford. He studied harmony and counterpoint with A.J. Potter and composition with James Wilson at the Royal Irish Academy of Music while reading for an Arts Degree in Trinity College Dublin; this course included a study of the history of music with Brian Boydell. He pursued further studies privately with Seóirse Bodley, and in 1976 was awarded an Italian Government Scholarship to study with Franco Donatoni.
His output includes orchestral, choral and chamber music, and he has had works performed and broadcast in many countries around the world. The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra has premièred all but one of Jerome de Bromhead's six orchestral works, all composed in the period 1976-1994.
He is a member of Aosdána.
