The allure of the harp was by no means exclusive to Ireland, its seemingly enchanted voice especially felt in sun-scorched Spain. Debussy's Spanish-flavoured Sacred and Profane Dances find the instrument in a mesmerising embrace with the orchestra while Spanish Dances by Granados showcase its ability to evoke exotic moods and vivid atmospheres. In a colourful recital of heated passions and virtuosic flair, Abreu's irresistibly happy Tico-Tico no Fubá and Spanish fantasies from Glinka and Rimsky-Korsakov add their own irresistible Iberian sunlight and warmth.
