GRACE OUT OF DARKNESS
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

PRINCIPAL GUEST CONDUCTOR HANNU LINTU AND ASSOCIATE ARTIST FINGHIN COLLINS TEAM UP FOR THE FIRST TIME. Mozart's grandest Piano Concerto, its dark, menacing atmospheres sounding like storm clouds lit up by brilliant lightning flashes, is the focus.

Starting in defiance and ending in tragic resignation, Brahms' final symphony offers music of bleak but beautiful gracefulness.

The world premiere of Dubliner Andrew Hamilton's RTÉ-commissioned The True Truths feeds 'a song into the orchestra and becomes destroyed, mangled and bashed' to explore 'the meanings that can hide behind seemingly simple ideas'.
