June Bank Holiday Weekend
Friday 1 June at the National Concert Hall, 8pm
The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed soprano Celine Byrne start the June Bank Holiday weekend on a high note with the Celine Byrne Summer Gala on Friday 1 June at the National Concert Hall at 8pm.
Back by popular demand following its sell-out performance last summer, this year's concert, conducted by Robert Houlihan, includes Irish as well as operatic and orchestral favourites. The concert will be broadcast live on RTÉ lyric fm.
The event will mark the award-winning Irish opera star's first performance with the RTÉ NSO since her dramatic Covent Garden début in March when she stepped in mid-performance to sing the title role in Rusalka; according to British Telegraph critic Michael White, Celine 'saved the day' and 'got a tumultuous reception'.
A chance now to hear Rusalka's glorious Song to the Moon and more in this single performance including Un bel dì vedremo (Madama Butterfly), Ebben? Ne andrò lontana (La Wally) and I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls (The Bohemian Girl); Irish airs such as My Lagan Love and The Last Rose of Summer and orchestral items including the Intermezzo from Act 3 of Manon Lescaut, and Dvorák's Carnival overture.
Tickets: €15, €25, €32, €40 (Concessions €13.50, €22.50, €29, €36. Limited availability))
