Swan Lake, the bittersweet story of love, sacrifice, and betrayal, has some of the most enthralling music ever written. Janácek's Sinfonietta, perhaps his most brilliant work for orchestra, expresses, 'the contemporary free man, his spiritual beauty and joy, his strength, courage and determination to fight for victory.' War is also at the heart of Tchaikovsky's great 1812 Overture as sudden pauses, belligerent climaxes and the mottos of the opposing forces ring out across the musical battlefield. The season goes out with a bang - come along and join us. Read what Alan and Finghin say
