The RTÉ NSO's performance of Bach's Mass in B minor was an Irish Times Highlight for 2010. The orchestra continues its enterprising journey into Bach's sacred vocal music with a complete performance over two nights of the great Christmas Oratorio, compiled for performance in Leipzig in 1734-1735. This included Christmas Day and the two following days, the Feast of the Circumcision, the Sunday after New Year, and the Feast of the Epiphany. The story follows the biblical narrative of the appointed readings for the relevant days as the Evangelist and chorus take us through the dramatic events surrounding Christ's nativity - a unique experience.
