Brahm's Requiem to end the Choir season

They will be joined by soloists Mhairi Lawson, soprano, and Benedict Nelson, baritone, conducted by Paul McCreesh. It is a highly personal and moving work, known as the German Requiem because of its use of sacred German texts rather than the traditional Latin mass. Although Brahms had started it in 1861 he only completed it in 1866 after the death of his mother and the first complete performance in Leipzig in 1869 established the work as a true masterpiece.

The guest Chorus Master for this concert is Jeremy Haneman, who also worked with the Choir for their performance of Carmina Burana in October 2011.

The concert starts at 8pm and also includes the Cello Concerto by Elgar, with the young French soloist Gautier Capucon. Tickets and full details available from the NCH Box Office, 01 417 0000
