The Labour Relations Commission has issued a formal invitation to the three teachers' unions to engage in negotiations on a revision of the Croke Park II proposals.
The Irish National Teachers' Organisation, the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland and the Teachers' Union of Ireland all rejected the Croke Park II proposals.
It is understood that the unions will put the invitation to their respective executive councils over the weekend.
If the invitation is accepted, the LRC is expected to engage with the teachers' representatives on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Government is continuing to prepare legislation for pay cuts as a contingency measure.
