Vincent Murphy joined RTÉ in 2007 after seven years working in news on independent radio at INN (Independent Network News). Initially, he worked as a sub-editor on RTÉ Radio 1 bulletins, before moving to 2FM as newsreader and reporter. He joined Morning Ireland in September 2008 and has since worked on the show as reporter, presenter, editor and business reporter.
While living in New York for two years, he reported for RTÉ on, among other stories, US reaction to the death of Osama bin Laden, the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Ivan, and the drama surrounding the opening of U2's Spiderman musical on Broadway. He returned to Ireland full-time in January 2010, and worked on the RTÉ newsroom's Centralized News Desk. He was appointed as a full-time Programme Editor on Morning Ireland in February 2013.
Vincent has a BA in journalism from Dublin City University (DCU) and now works as an Associate Lecturer at his alma mater, where he teaches radio journalism to the Masters class.
He has also freelanced in the past for, amongst others, the Irish Independent, the Sunday Tribune and Magill magazine.
