Emma McNamara travelled to Iceland ahead of negotiations for accession to the EU and discovered that farmers and fishermen do not want to join.
They're both hugely powerful groups in Iceland. They say Iceland could lose its fishing grounds and would no longer be able to protect its small agricultural sector.
Those who do want to join say membership would bring economic and political stability to the country.
