Brendan Fitzpatrick is from Clonmel in Co. Tipperary and cut his broadcasting teeth in his local station Tipp FM where he worked in the newsroom and hosted the weekend sports programmes. He then moved to Limerick to work in RTÉ's new classical music station Lyric FM where he was part of the news team (despite not knowing his arias from his elbow!)
From there it was on to the RTÉ newsroom in Dublin in 2002 where, after a brief stint on the radio sub-editor's desk, he moved to the Morning Ireland programme as a reporter. Last November, he was editor for Morning Ireland's US coverage of the elections. Highlight for him: a Sarah Palin rally in Ohio (where they played two types of music, Country and Western).
He was appointed editor on Morning Ireland in 2008. Brendan is a keen sports fan and supports Man United and Tipperary Hurling.
