- Although counting will not begin until Monday up North, early unofficial tallies suggest the DUP has suffered a major hit
- Sinn Fein is now tipped to emerge as the largest party for the first time in any Northern Ireland election

- Turnout brisker than expected across Galway at 5pm. Renmore is at 28%, while the East County is averaging 35%. One polling station in Ballinasloe Town is reporting a turnout of 42%
- Voting at polling stations in Limerick City and County continues to be brisk. One of the busiest polling stations on the northside of Limerick is reporting a turnout of 31%
- Voting is picking up in the East constituency, with Mountmellick at 24% so far and Portlaoise at 20%
16:30: Turnout in Cork is varying from 11% in Ballinhassig to up to 30% in Clonakilty and Cobh. Voting has been steady, and a surge is due at teatime
16:00: Voting has picked up in Dublin City with a turnout of over 15% by lunchtime. Overall, Dublin City and County saw the largest turnouts in areas covered by the two by-elections
- Voting has been fairly steady around Louth and Meath throughout the day. In Drogheda and Dundalk the turnout is estimated at around 17% so far.
- Two booths in the Scoil Ursula polling station in Sligo Town reported a turnout of 15% and 20% by 3pm.
- Turnout in Kilkenny City was over 15% at lunchtime, which was well up on figures at the same time in the last local elections.
- Areas in Galway City were reporting turnout of 11% at noon. On the edge of Galway city, suburban areas like Castlegar had a lower turnout of about 6%.
