Twitter took to this year's election like fish to water: as counting began on Saturday morning, the #ge11 tag accounted for 0.16% of all twitter traffic worldwide.

Twitter took to this year's election like fish to water: as counting began on Saturday morning, the #ge11 tag accounted for 0.16% of all twitter traffic worldwide.

By 10.30pm on Saturday #ge11 coverage stood at over 18,000 tweets, according to Stephen O'Leary of O'Leary Analytics.

From politicians to pundits, everyone was tweeting news and views.
