An inquest into the death of Denis Donaldson has been adjourned again in Letterkenny.
Mr Donaldson was shot dead at his cottage in Cloghercor near Glenties in Co Donegal in April 2006. He had been operating as a spy for MI5.
Coroner Denis McAuley adjourned the inquest for six months until 26 September.
The solicitor for the Donaldson family, Ciarán Shiels, said that the family were anxious to know whether any person or persons would be charged in relation to the death of Mr Donaldson.
The coroner said that the inquest could not go ahead in September should a criminal case be under way.
If the inquest is to go ahead the coroner indicated he would hold a pre-evidence hearing to establish its scope and layout.
A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for consideration with regards to a criminal prosecution.
