• Dressmaking
  Part-time courses in design and dressmaking are proving popular - particularly among women - as money gets tighter. We met some of them at Ireland's oldest fashion school, the Grafton Academy.

  A martial arts teacher has recently opened his own academy at a premises in Deans Grange. He says the drop in rents made this feasible for him. Paul teaches Kung Fu to all ages, from five to adult.

  The Zoo
  Dublin Zoo opened on 1 September 1831. Almost all the animals were housed in cages and the entrance fee was 6d. Meet the author of a new book about the zoo, as well as a past employee.

  The 30th Dublin City Marathon takes place on Monday 26 October. There's a record entry of more than 12,000.  In this report, meet a man and a woman tackling the 26.2 mile distance for the first time.
