Aldi opens first store in Co MonaghanThursday 26 June 2014 12.27
Aldi has today opened its first Co Monaghan store, located in Carrickmacross. The store opening has created 20 new jobs.
The company said it now has a presence in every county in the Republic of Ireland and the new Monaghan store brings its total nationwide to 108.
Suppliers from the local area include Castleblayney’s IGWT Poultry Service and Annalitten Foods and Greenfield Foods - based in Castleblayney and Smithboro respectively - which both supply Aldi with eggs.
Town of Monaghan Co-Op, which produces a number of Aldi's yogurts, was this week unveiled as its third Irish milk supplier.
The co-op will be supplying nine Aldi stores initially in the North East of the country, with under Aldi’s Clonbawn brand.
