AIB has said it regrets any disruption to its customers this morning arising from duplicate transactions processed on their accounts.

A number of AIB customers had been charged twice for the same transactions - on 25 March and then again on 26 March.

The bank said the issue arose after a file of debit card transactions was processed twice by mistake.

In a statement released this afternoon, the bank said it had reversed all instances where the error had occurred.
