RSA Insurance Ireland has appointed Ken Norgrove as its new chief executive.
The appointment is subject to approval by the Central Bank.
Mr Norgrove was most recently chief executive at Zurich General Insurance Ireland and has over 25 years' experience in insurance in both the UK and Ireland.
He replaces Philip Smith, who resigned last year as an investigation found financial irregularities at the Irish unit. This cost its parent group £200m.
The review of RSA's businesses by accountants PwC concluded that accounting irregularities at the company were confined to its Irish business and did not amount to a group-wide problem.
Mr Norgrove, who is the the current president of the Insurance Institute of Ireland and is a fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, will take up his new post in June.
