SuperValu have launched what they say is the first 'Drive-Through' supermarket service in Ireland at its Carrigaline store in Co Cork.

The service enables customers to place their orders online and then pick up their shopping by using the drive-through facility located at the store.

Currently, customers who shop online have the option of getting their shopping delivered to their home or picking it up themselves in-store.

This service widens their options and allows them pick up their shopping without leaving the car.

SuperValu says it is the first to offer a drive-through grocery service in Ireland, however Tesco Ireland has said it already provides a similar service in its outlets in Clare Hall, Dublin and Maynooth, Co Kildare.

SuperValu says it has plans to extend the service to other stores by the end of the year.
