Dew Valley, a meat company in Co Tipperary, has won a major contract to supply all McDonald's Irish restaurants with bacon.
The actual figure is undisclosed but is thought to be about €3m over five years.
The deal will see the firm deliver up to 9 million pieces of cooked bacon to McDonald's every year - that adds up to 36 tonnes of meat a year.
It might also lead to the company supplying bacon to other McDonald's outlets in Europe.
The bacon will turn up on McDonald's breakfast menu in things like the bacon and egg McMuffin and the bacon roll. It will also feature on the company's quarter pounder deluxe burger, the Big Tasty and some of its chicken offerings.
Before the Dew Valley deal was signed, McDonald's Ireland sourced its bacon from the UK.
