The Revenue Commissioners had received almost 1,518,000 filings for the Local Property Tax by 4pm this afternoon, indicating a compliance rate above 90%.

Revenue had sent 1.66m notifications to liable property owners and had aimed for compliance of 80% by the end of the year.

Almost three quarters of the returns made to date have been electronic, while 22% have been paper filings and 5% done over the phone.

The deadline for property tax returns, which was extended yesterday, is 8pm this evening.

Addressing the Joint Committee on Finance, Pubic Expenditure and Reform, Revenue Chairman Josephine Feehily said she now expected the tax to contribute €100 million to the May Exchequer figures, due to be announced next week.
