Manufacturing prices rose by 0.3% during April and are up by almost 2% over the past 12 months.

The latest CSO wholesale prices index show the most significant price changes during April were in the prices of meat and meat products leaving Irish factories which rose by 3.5% in the month.

Other categories where wholesale prices rose included computer, electronic and optical products, which were up 1.6%, and dairy products where prices rose 1%.

Overall wholesale prices were ahead by 1.9% compared to April 2012. That was despite the price of energy products falling by 2.1% over the year and petrol and diesel prices falling by 5.2%.
