Aer Lingus has reported a 4.3% increase in total passenger numbers for March.

The airline said that total passenger numbers - which includes passengers on its regional operations - rose to 844,000 in March from 809,000 the same time last year.

Short haul passenger numbers increased by 1.7% to 674,000, while long haul passenger numbers jumped by 13.7% to 83,000. Passenger numbers on its regional operations rose by 19.2% to 87,000.

The airline's load factor - how many seats are filled on each flight - also rose last month. Its short haul load factor increased by 4.7 points to 77.3%, while its long haul load factor grew by 2.4 points to 84.4%.
