New Central Statistics Office figures show that the total number of trips to Ireland rose by 2.6% in the three months from December to February.
The CSO says that trips to Ireland rose by 30,200 to a total of 1,176,100 compared to the same three month period a year earlier.
Breaking down the figures, they show that visits by North American residents increased by almost 10% to 141,600.
Trips by residents in Europe grew by 5.7% to 393,400 and trips here from other areas jumped over 15% to 77,700.
However visits by residents of the UK to Ireland fell by 2.4% to 563,500.
The CSO figures also reveal that the total number of trips made by Irish people during the three month period eased by 0.6% to 1,360,000 in the three months from December to February.
