The Minister for Finance has told the Dáil that 24 executives at Bank of Ireland are on salaries in excess of €400,000.

Michael Noonan was responding to a question from Sinn Fein's Pádraig Mac Lochlainn.

He said the information had been provided by the bank.

Mr Noonan disclosed that 19 people were earning between €300,000 and €399,000 while 66 individuals were in receipt of between €150,000 and €199,000.

A further 84 individuals in the bank were earning between €150,000 and €199,000, the Minister said.

Mr Noonan added that the Government shared the outrage of the public concerning such levels of remuneration and that without the assistance of the citizens, such pay at these institutions would only be aspirational.
