Bord na Móna today reported a pre-tax loss of €2.9m in the year to the end of March 2012.

The company said the loss was due to a €23.1m impairment charge against AES, its resource recovery unit.

Turnover rose marginally, 0.5% in the year, while average employment increased.

The company noted a drop in fuel sales following a mild winter and the cost of the prolonged closure for a refit, of West Offaly Power Station.
