BT and Telenor agree to split TelenordiaFriday 26 January 2007 21.37
British Telecom and Norwegian operator Telenor have agreed to split their stake in Swedish joint-venture Telenordia along the lines of each company's strategic interests, BT announced this morning.
The deal involves the payment of an undisclosed sum to BT, the British company said in a statement. BT Ignite, BT's international broadband and solutions business, will focus on business customers.
Telenordia, a telecoms operator, was founded in 1995 as a joint venture between BT, TeleDanmark and Telenor, with each partner holding a third of the firm.
In August 2000, TeleDanmark sold its stake to BT and Telenor, each partner paying about £95 million to raise their share to 50%, BT said.
