Support for Fine Gael has fallen, according to the latest Sunday Independent / Kantar Millward Brown opinion poll.
The survey of voters carried out over 11 days up to last Thursday also shows gains for Fianna Fáil.
Fine Gael support is measured at 25%, a drop of four points on the last directly comparable poll in October.
This caps a torrid recent period for the party which is this weekend trying to deal with mounting calls on the Taoiseach to announce when he intends to step down.
At 33%, Fianna Fáil is up six points and has opened up a gap on the party in Government notwithstanding a margin of error of 3.2%.
Sinn Féin is unchanged on 20% while Labour drop two points to stand at 6%.
The Independent Alliance is unchanged on 5% but the non-aligned Independents drop two points to 4%.
The AAA-PBP are on 3%, the Greens are on 2% and the Social Democrats are also on 2%.
