An appeal for information has been issued in relation to Kym Owens, who was found unconscious near her student accommodation in Co Kildare last November.

Ms Owens, from Co Monaghan, was found on a footpath in the Moyglare Abbey estate in Maynooth at about 8.30pm on 20 November.

The 18-year-old student, whose injuries include two broken eye sockets, a fractured jaw and a broken nose, remains in a medically induced coma.

Gardaí are investigating theories that she may have suffered a fall.

Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Sean O' Rourke, Ms Owens' uncle Thomas McNee said her family, who are keeping a bedside vigil, are devastated and have had their lives turned upside down.

He urged anyone who had information about her injuries to go to gardaí.

Ms Owens is described as being 1.65m (5’3") tall, with long, brown hair. She was wearing a dark green coat at the time of the incident, along with a red hoodie, black jeans and white Converse runners.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Leixlip Garda Station on 01-6667800, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
