Around 6,000 homes and businesses are without power across the midlands due to thunder and lightning storms this afternoon.
ESB Networks say their teams are out trying to restore power to all areas.
The areas worst affected are Mayo, Sligo, Meath and Westmeath.
It is hoped that power will be restored to the majority of customers later tonight, but some areas will be without power until tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, Met Éireann have put a Status Orange thunder warning in place for much of the country until 1am on Tuesday.
Heavy thundery downpowers are forecast across Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.
Localised flooding may also occur, particularly across the midlands and northwest.
