Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of Kenneth O'Brien.

The pair, in the mid-30s and mid-50s, are being held at Leixlip and Naas garda stations.

Mr O'Brien's dismembered torso was found in a suitcase in the Grand Canal at Ardclough in Co Kildare on 16 January.

The 33-year-old Dublin man had recently returned to Ireland from working in Australia.

He lived in Clondalkin with his partner and young child.

Gardaí investigating the murder also found human remains in the Grand Canal at Sallins. These were subsequently identified as Mr O'Brien's.

Gardaí had previously said they were pursuing more than 200 lines of inquiry into the death.
