The Health Service Executive has reported an uptake rate of 84% for the cervical cancer vaccination programme for first year secondary school girls.

The HSE said the uptake for the vaccine in 2012 and 2013 is above its target of 80%.

This year the vaccination schedule will change from three to two doses, as it has been proven to be as effective in young girls.
