Three prominent loyalists have appeared at Belfast's Magistrates Court, charged with the attempted murder of two men on Wednesday 20 August.  

John Bunting, 47, from Stonebridge Avenue, Conlig,Co Down; 46-year-old John Howcroft from Formby Park, Belfast and Darren McCalister, 31, from Alliance Road, Belfast appeared in court.

They were charged with the attempted murder of Andre Shoukri and John Boreland and were also charged with posession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. 

One of the victims was shot in the right thigh near Belfast's Ballysillan Road late on Wednesday night.

All three were remanded in custody.
