Gardaí in Co Kerry have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with an allegation of sexual assault on a man with special needs.

Late last Thursday night, a man with special needs is alleged to have been assaulted by another man in the Clash area of Tralee town.

He was later brought to Cork to be examined at the sexual assault treatment unit there.

The man had earlier left a public house in Castle St, Tralee, and a large crowd was gathering in the town at the time for the annual Rose festival.

A man was arrested yesterday afternoon and is being held at Tralee Garda station in connection with the alleged incident.
