The Philadelphia rose has been crowned this year’s winner of the Rose of Tralee.

Maria Walsh beat off 31 other contestants.

The festival celebrates Irish communities all over the world.

The 27-year-old is a native of Boston, Massachusetts but moved to the south Mayo village of Shrule in 1994.

Her father Vincent is from Carravilla, Roundfort, Co Mayo but lived in Boston for a number of years.

She studied Journalism and Visual Media in Griffith College, Dublin and graduated in 2009.

She moved to Philadelphia in late 2011.

She is a Studio Manager for Anthropologie, a clothing and lifestyle brand.
