A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fire in which two people were injured in Drogheda, Co Louth yesterday.

The blaze was spotted at around 1am on Choard Rd.

The woman was arrested this evening and is being held at Drogheda Garda Station.

Three men, who were also were arrested in connection with the incident, have been released without charge.

A man in his 30s managed to rescue a woman from the house.

She has a disability that requires her to use a wheelchair.

She was initially brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda before being transferred to St James's Hospital in Dublin for specialist treatment for burns and smoke inhalation.

The man was also treated for burn injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardaí praised the rescuer, saying his actions "were essential".
