Gardaí are appealing for information after a man in his 20s presented himself at the Mater Hospital in Dublin with gunshot wounds to his leg.

The man was driven to hospital by another man at around 7.20pm yesterday evening.

The shooting was brought to the attention of the gardaí and hospital after the men's car hit a barrier at the hospital's car park.

The injured man remains in hospital after surgery last night. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardaí are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
