Two motorcycle gardaí have been injured in a crash in Co Sligo.

The officers were responding to a crash on the Manorhamilton Road when they were involved in a collision.

One of the gardaí has been discharged from Sligo Regional Hospital, the other is still in hospital having undergone surgery for a broken leg.

A 47-year-old man has appeared at a special sitting of Castlerea District Court in Co Roscommmon this evening in connection with the incident.

Gary Wilson, with an address in Pearl River, New York, pleaded guilty to careless driving and was fined €400.
