A baby boy has died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a road crash in Finglas in Dublin, while a woman in her 70s has died after a crash in Malahide.

The baby was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision at the junction of Hampton Wood Green and Hampton Wood Avenue at about 3.30pm on Saturday.

He was taken to Temple Street Children's University Hospital, where he died yesterday afternoon.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact them in Finglas on 01-6667500.

Separately, a 78-year-old woman died when the car she was travelling in collided with another vehicle on the Coast Road in Malahide.

A 79-year-old man was injured and is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Two women travelling in the second vehicle were taken to Beaumont Hospital with minor injuries.
