Appeal to occupants of Cork hit-and-run car

Gardaí have appealed for the two female passengers and male driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run in Cork city to come forward.

A 12-year-old boy was struck by a silver BMW car that failed to stop as he was crossing Thomas Davis Street in Blackpool on Wednesday night.

He remains in a comfortable condition at Cork University Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

A car believed to have been involved in the hit-and-run has been recovered by gardaí.

The silver BMW, fitted with Northern Ireland number plates, was found in the Shandon area of the city yesterday afternoon.

A forensic examination was carried out on the vehicle to identify the driver of the car.
