Boy injured in hit-and-run in CorkThursday 07 August 2014 23.23
A search is under way for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run in Cork that led to a 12-year-old boy being hospitalised last night.
The boy was struck by the car as he was crossing the road on Thomas Davis Street in Blackpool at about 9.50pm.
He was taken to the Mercy University Hospital, where he is said to be in a comfortable position.
He is to be transferred to Cork University Hospital this morning for further assessments.
The car, which had a number of passengers on board, failed to stop and continued on towards the city centre.
It is being described as a silver car with a yellow number plate.
Gardaí at Watercourse Road in Cork have appealed for witnesses.
They are to examine CCTV footage from the area in a bid to track down the driver and vehicle.
They have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the hit-and-run or who may have any information on the car or driver involved to contact Mayfield Garda Station on 021-4558510.
