Drugs have been found on board a Spanish tall ship which visited Dublin in June, it has been reported.

According to international media reports, Spanish police discovered 127kg of cocaine on board the Juan Sebastián de Elcano, the third-largest tall ship in the world.

Authorities suspect the drugs were brought on board after a stop in Colombia.

The ship later went on to stop in New York and it was from there that it travelled to Dublin harbour in June, where it stayed for a five-day visit.

The ship belongs to the Royal Spanish Navy but is mainly used as a training vessel.
